Status of the CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2027

CBSE has not published the subject-wise Class 10 timetable for 2027 as of 31 October 2026. The board is expected to announce it on cbse.gov.in, and Class 10 and Class 12 are generally issued as separate documents. Any exact date you see before that notice is only a prediction.

Remember: the main exam is reported to run in February and March, and the optional second exam in May, following the pattern set in 2026. Treat both as unconfirmed until CBSE says otherwise. For the overall picture, see our CBSE Date Sheet 2027 updates page.

What the Class 10 Timetable Will List

The official PDF will name the date and timing for every theory paper, for subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, Hindi, other languages and skill or elective subjects. When it arrives, compare the subject codes with the ones on your registration, because a wrong code is the easiest way to read someone else’s paper dates.

Mathematics students should also note whether they have chosen Standard or Basic, as the two have separate papers.

The Two-Exam System Explained

First exam Second exam
Expected time February to March May
Who sits it Every registered Class 10 student Eligible students who appeared in the first exam
Subjects All subjects Up to three, from Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages
Purpose Main board result Improvement, or clearing a compartment
  • Best score counts. For each subject, the higher of the two marks is used, so attempting the second exam does not put your first result at risk.
  • Only theory is repeated. Practical, project and internal marks are carried forward as they are, which is why steady work during the year matters.
  • Compartment students. If you fall short in one or two subjects in the first exam, you can try to clear them in May.
  • Three or more subjects missed. You will not be eligible for the second exam under the published scheme.
  • No subject switching. You cannot swap subjects between the two exams, though moving between Mathematics Standard and Basic is allowed.

Do not treat May as an excuse to relax in February. The second exam covers the full syllabus again, so improving three subjects means revising three syllabi in a short window.

Science Preparation for Class 10 Boards

Science rewards clear concepts, labelled diagrams and well-structured numerical answers. Start with the NCERT textbook and finish each chapter before moving to practice. Our NCERT Science Textbooks PDF page lists chapter-wise material, and the important diagrams post helps you rehearse the figures you must be able to draw. For chemistry, try the Chemical Reactions & Equations PYQs with answers.

Study Plan While You Wait

  1. Split subjects into strong, average and weak. Give the weak group the most regular time.
  2. Finish the syllabus first. Pending chapters are the biggest risk, so clear them before the main revision cycle.
  3. Practise under time. Solve a full paper in the real duration at least once a week.
  4. Keep an error notebook. Write down each mistake and the correct method, and revisit it weekly.
  5. Decide your second-exam strategy later. Wait for the first result before choosing subjects to improve, but keep your notes organised so you can restart fast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CBSE Class 10 date sheet 2027 out?

Not yet. As of 31 October 2026, CBSE has not released it. Check cbse.gov.in for the official notice.

Are both Class 10 board exams compulsory?

No. The first exam is compulsory. The second, in May, is optional and meant for improvement or clearing a compartment.

How many subjects can I improve?

Up to three, chosen from Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages.

Can my marks go down if I take the second exam?

The higher score in each subject is counted, so a lower May mark does not replace a better first-exam mark.

Will a separate date sheet come for the second exam?

The second exam is expected to be notified separately. Follow CBSE’s circulars for the schedule.
